A huge congratulations from everyone here at the Bakehouse to Corey McMahon who on Monday night was presented by The Adelaide Critics Circle with the Emerging Artist Award for his Directiion of "Osama the Hero" and "The Under Room".
Corey's group five.point.one presented both of these shows at the Bakehouse earlier this year to rave reviews and they should be very proud of their achievements.
Well done Corey!
The Bakehouse Theatre would like to congratulate one of its resident groups Accidental Productions on winning the Adelaide Theatre Guide "Curtain Call" Award 2008/2009 for "Best Ensemble" for its production here of "Worlds End".
Pamela attended the Dinner on this occasion and accepted the award on behalf of Accidental Productions who were on stage at the time with their production of "Arabian Night"
Well done guys! Keep up the good work!
The Bakehouse is flying high with nominations for awards in EVERY category of the Adelaide Theatre Guide "Curtain Call" Awards this year.

The nominations are:-
The new Bakehouse website has just gone online in time for the Adelaide Fringe. In line with the refurbishment theme going on at the Bakehouse, the website has been redesigned and been given a lot of new functionalities. Registered users can now book online for shows and leave comments on articles. If you've seen a show, why not come back here and tell us what you liked (or disliked) about it? It is still a work in progress and we will be implementing online payments sometime in the next few months.
Recently I traveled to England on holiday and whilst there I also put on my hat as Artistic Director of the Bakehouse and went to make some professional connections with a local theatre company in Oxford. As a result, the Bakehouse may soon have a 'sister theatre company' arrangement with the OFS theatre in the UK. I'd noticed the OFS (Old Fire Station) theatre in Oxford on a previous trip, and was very much drawn to it because it is so quaint and reminds me very much of the Bakehouse.
Well it must be something about this time of the year at the Bakehouse. Last February, we re-vamped the main theatre and foyer area and painted the outside of the Bakehouse building. Now we have been refurbishing again and created a new Studio Theatre space. We did this by reclaiming our front rooms, which were previously let out as offices.
The Bakehouse Theatre was re-vamped, re-painted inside and out and had a fabulous grand re-opening party just in time for the Adelaide Fringe 2008, with Greg Mackie, head of Arts SA cutting the ribbon. Anyone who was anyone at all in the world of theatre and the media was in attendance, to see the striking grey and black decorator colours which Pamela Munt, Artistic Director says makes the building catch the eye and look much more like a theatre.
The Artist Development Program is sadly no longer funded by ARTS SA and will not therefore continue. The theatre is now run by Pamela Munt (new Artistic Director) mainly as a theatre venue for hire. It also endeavours to support as much as possible with its now limited funding, both emerging and established SA theatre artists. In some cases it is also possible to negotiate co-productions.
Please contact Pamela Munt at the Bakehouse on 82270505 if you require any further information.
