Lowground

Thursday, 3 May 2018 to Saturday, 5 May 2018

Lowground is an exciting new work. An hour of musical theatre that turns Grimm's Rapunzel into a beautiful yet dark, folk opera with a medieval sensibility.
Written by Adelaide songwriter Casey Thomson. Lowground features Thomson’s well crafted, original score played by a live ensemble of well known musicians drawn from the Baroque, Classical, Folk and Contemporary Adelaide scenes.
Well known Adelaide singer/songwriter Courtney Robb as Rapunzel is a complex and contemporary princess, while Jonathan Crouch brings an inimitable impish skullduggery to his role as the show's narrator, the Fool.
Producer/ writer Casey Thomson strikes a perfect balance as the wicked but ultimately vulnerable Witch, and the show features Kacey Guy Stevenson making a theatrical debut as the winsome Prince.

"Lowground is a beautifully presented piece of musical theatre, turning a somewhat dark tale into something quite extraordinary"
