The Lost Poem

(Pi) I heard the story about the sea and the girl,
in many morning,
I saw her muttering as she was looking towards the sea,
every time I followed her singing,
still she was out of my sight. As the sea breeze blew,
I knew she heard many voices of the city,
from the dawn aside the pier, to the evening next to the harbour,
there were bottles collecting her tears placing around her.
(tears) filled into the sea as the bottles became full.
Every time I just saw the back of her,
every time I just stood behind her.

The Lost Poem  is part of a programme called “G’Day! Hong Kong” - the first-ever multidisciplinary showcase of Hong Kong talents at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It is showing at the Bakehouse Theatre alongside Smoking with Grandma, Galaxy Dreamer, and Never Seen.

Steven Choi, an illustrator and graphic designer was born and raised in Hong Kong. Founder of Syncircle Design Company, Steven has engaged with design since he was a teenager. The illustration series "Zu & Pi" was first exhibited at the Frankfurt bookfair 2012. His simple, Scandinavian illustration style is recognized. To explore more possibilities, Steven keeps making new works which will be exhibited from time to time.

Japan Illustrators' Association, Hong Kong Designers Association and 4th Great China Illustration Awards awarded illustrator Steven KH Choi's first exhibition in Australia. Illustrating the image of Hong Kong in a fable of the evolution and sorrow of a girl that composes into The Lost Poem, displaying the rise and decline of the metropolitan in unique drawing and paper art.
