Peggy Pickit Sees the Face of God
Four friends approaching middle age, get together for the first time in six years. They want to take up their friendship where they left it, but maybe they have grown too far apart?
Old friends – all doctors – meet for dinner after six years. Liz and Frank have made their lives here in the West. They’ve done well for themselves. Carol and Martin have just returned from a six year stint in Africa. Their return seems to have been caused by a deteriorating situation which forced them to flee.
Their story is both commented on and acted out in a fascinating collage of time shifts so typical of Schimmelpfennig. Other plays JHP has staged are Arabian Night and The Golden Dragon. All these plays tease out the complex relationship between the West and other areas of the world; the Middle East, Asia and now, Africa.
