At the door on the night (subject to availability)
TOYER is a ‘cat and mouse’ psychological thriller that addresses humanity’s vast ability to manipulate one another, our moral lawlessness, our wondrous gift for lying and the awful power of charisma. It is about our capacity to absorb mindless horror as well as our immediate power to forgive. A ‘Toyer’ is someone who toys, a mass paralyzer who toys with their victims. It is not murder, or rape, but seduction leading to immobilization. TOYER is a modern American play that has successfully been produced throughout the world at esteemed venues such as the Eisenhower Theatre and the Kennedy Centre with involvement from numerous acclaimed actors and directors including Kathleen Turner, Brad Davis and Tony Richardson. Described as ‘Deeply disturbing and entirely relevant’ by NPR, the Herald Examiner called it ‘Riveting, breathtaking’, whilst Variety stated, ‘A classic mystery that always keeps you guessing on the edge of your seat’. This production is the Adelaide premier of TOYER and is an exciting production not to be missed!
“(Toyer) is about our capacity to believe any truth, as it suits us…about our dreadful crimes; not that they happen, that we know about them and turn the page.” G. McKay (Author)
"Congrats to Marc Clement & Stef Rossi on their two-handed thriller Toyer at the Bakehouse. Tightly directed by Tony Knight, this edgy Gardner McKay drama will keep you guessing all the way....expect the unexpected""
Matt Byrne, Sunday Mail
I cannot recommend this production highly enough, but advise you to see it immediately, as the ridiculously short run lasts only two weeks.... to miss this would be a big mistake!
